Minnesota Swarm Signings

Point and Three Free Agents Are Signed

The Swarm signed the following players to one-year contracts for the 2007 season. Today’s transactions include two defensemen and two forwards:

F-R - Craig Point
The huge signing today is Craig Point without a doubt. Craig, I believe, may be the most important draft choice in Swarm history as of now. His talent speaks for himself and I envision that he is, if he stays in Minnesota, an extremely key ingredient for the long term future of the Swarm. I think the Swarm have finally got a player that will have no problem taking a shot when necessary. A definite go to guy.

Senior defense Reg VanVelzen (St. Catharines, Ont.) received his second straight All-Canadian honours being named to the first team as well as being named both the league's Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Defensive Player, becoming the first Brock defender to receive these two honours.
"Reg is one of those players who has a quiet presence on and off the field, so it was great to see other teams recognize his ability. Rarely do you see a defensive player chosen as a league's Most Valuable Player, so it's a well-deserved trio of awards."
