Mr. Luxurious Back After Year Off

November 8, 2014

The best nickname on the Swarm will return for the 2015 season as Mitch Belisle aka Mr. Luxurious signs for one season along with rookie defenseman Pat Laconi.

Belisle returns to the Swarm after taking the 2014 NLL season off. He was busy with his main job with Trilogy Lacrosse, getting married and playing for the United States where he won Silver at the 2014 FIL World Field Lacrosse Championships. Now it looks like he is able to recommit to the Swarm while also getting ready for next year's World Indoor Championships in Buffalo in September.

Belisle joined the Swarm in 2012 after being selected in the Boston Blazers Dispersal Draft. From 2012 - 2013 with the Swarm, Belisle played 31 games with 1 goal, 14 assists and 117 loose balls. Before his time with the Swarm, Belisle played a year for the New York Titans and three years with the Blazers. With his experience at the high levels of lacrosse both indoors and outdoors, Belisle's return along with arrival of Mike Grimes will bolster a defense that looks better and better with the various off season moves.

The Swarm also signed a new player in Laconi, who just graduated from Loyola this past year and is attending law school. The Morristown, New Jersey native is a righthanded defenseman who was the top short-stick defenseman in the NCAA in 2014 which earned him Second-Team All-American status. He is also a NCAA Champion having won the 2012 NCAA Championship with Loyola along with Reid Acton. During the summer, Laconi plays short-stick defense with the Charlotte Hounds of the MLL. Laconi joins a strong group of American short-stick outdoor defensemen with the Swarm along with Greg Downing and Dominique Alexander. Look for Laconi to wear #34 for the Swarm.
