Series: Philadelphia 3-1
Last week, the Swarm lost 15-11 to the Wings to start the season at the Xcel
Energy Center. #44 Ryan Ward (4 goals & 2 assists) and #22 Kasey
Beirnes (3 goals & 3 assists) led the scoring. #1 Matt Disher saved
29 of 42 shots in goal. The Swarm scored three straight to begin the
game but the Wings finished the 1st quarter up 5 to 3. After Ward's
third goal of the game to tie it at 10 to 10 with 14:39 in the 4th
quarter, the Wings scored five straight to take control.

Thisweekend, the Swarm are looking to get their first win of the year and
to keep up with the undefeated Wings (2-0) in the East Division. This
is the Wings home opener. The Swarm are hoping that #11 Kelly Hall will
be ready to go after a rib injury suffered before last Friday's game.
The lefthander's scoring and aggressiveness will be needed near the net
to help with the offense.
#66 D'arcy Berthiaume and #48 Nolan
Heavenor will need to win half the face offs with the Wings #24 Peter
Jacobs, maybe the best faceoff specialist in the NLL. Jacobs won 20 of
30 faceoffs, with Berthiaume going 7 of 20 and Heavenor going 3 of 10.
If #39 Mark Miyashita makes his Swarm debut this weekend, he may also
be used in face offs.
The defense will need to communicate
better and prevent Wings players like #17 Marc Morley, #19 Sean
Greenhalgh and #15 Luke Wiles coming up the middle. #24 Brock Boyle and
#77 Riley Kemp will be the man in the middle to prevent this and
provide help on each side. Also, team captain #50 Ryan Cousins will
probably be charged with preventing #90 Jeff Ratcliffe and #66 Jake
Bergey from coming from the right to the net.
Disher will be
expected to come up with a better performance in goal and will do so.
With limited practice team because of his job as a banker with the
Royal Bank of Canada in Vancouver, Disher maybe a little off, but he
has lost some weight and is in much better shape this season. Seeing
him in civilian clothing, it is amazing how much better he looks. The
opposing goaltender, #37 Matt Roik, has been outstanding so far this
year. Can he keep it up? History says no, but maybe that is history now.
