Minnesota Swarm 20-Man Roster for 2014

Announced December 16, 2013

The Minnesota Swarm announced their 20-man active roster for the upcoming 2014 season. The active roster was reduced from 23 to 20 after the ratification of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The CBA also set a practice roster with a max of four players. Players placed on the practice roster can't be signed by others teams like they could be in the past. Seven players are new from the 2013 Swarm active roster at the end of last year.

Jersey numbers to make their Swarm regular season debut this year - 89.

Mike Hobbins was signed by the Swarm on December 16th after he was released by the Toronto Rock. Hobbins is entering his eighth year in the NLL after playing with the Rock and starting his NLL career with the Chicago Shamrox in 2007.

Five 2013 NLL Entry Draft picks made the final roster. Four of them are first rounders, the same amount that started the first game last season.

Callum Crawford will look to be the all-time leader in goals in Swarm history after becoming the all-time leader in assists and points last year.

Andrew Suitor will become captain again after returning from his knee injury that ended his 2013 season prematurely. Callum Crawford, who finished 2013 as the captain, will be an assistant with Jeff Gilbert, who will wear the "A" for a second straight year.

The Swarm will set a practice roster at a later date.

Ten players who were on the 2013 Swarm active roster at the end of last year are not on the active roster to start this year:

  • 27 - Pat Smith - Released
  • 35 - Evan Kirk - Traded to Philadelphia
  • 39 - Dan Ball - Released
  • 66 - Matt Gibson - Placed on PUP List
  • 77 - Jay Card - Placed on Protected Players List
  • 79 - Nik Bilic - Traded to Edmonton
  • 84 - Corbyn Tao - Released
  • 85 - Mitch Belisle - Placed on Protected Players List
