9-Gavin Prout |
- Andrew Suitor, as of the end of the first weekend of training camp, was not cleared for contact. Status for this weekend's games is unknown.
- Brock Sorensen had a hamstring act up on him this past weekend and may see limited time.
- The Swarm are already down to 24 players after last weekend and if all goes according to plan, these 24 will start the season on the roster.
- The Mammoth have 30 or 31 players on the roster as Gavin Prout's status right now is unclear. Even though signed, Prout has not been at camp
according to sources.
- Both teams play the following night but Minnesota must travel to Rochester while Colorado stays in Oakville. Both teams may be more experimental
in this game, learn from it and apply it the following night.
- The Mammoth acquired Drew Westervelt in a trade from Philadelphia to bolster their right side of the offense.
- The Mammoth definitely improved their faceoffs by acquiring Bob Snider from Vancouver, who was second only to his brother Geoff, in faceoffs in the
NLL last year.
- Jordan MacIntosh will be counted on to take the majority of faceoffs. With Suitor being brought on slowly, expect to see Jason Noble spell MacIntosh at
the circle.
- The Mammoth are just as young as the Swarm in the net. Their #1 is third year player Tye Belanger, who finished last year as the top dog. They return Dan
Lewis, also in his third year, and they drafted Dillon Ward with the third pick in the 2013 NLL Entry Draft. Belanger looks to stay number one into the season but Ward
is expected to be number two and may push for number one by the end of the season.
- With more players to evaluate, the Mammoth will play more fresher guys in the second half which will test the Swarm's fitness especially if Suitor and Sorensen
are out.
- The Swarm are expected to have seven rookies playing (all draft picks) while the Mammoth are looking at five rookies (four of them draft picks) playing.
- The only former Swarm on the Mammoth is Sean Pollock (2005 - 2011). Former Swarm Richard Morgan retired this off-season. The Swarm do not have any former Mammoth
on their roster but both Greg Downing and Cameron Flint live in Denver.
- Look for Ryan Masters to play in this game only this weekend maybe for at least an half.
Prediction: Minnesota Swarm 9 Colorado Mammoth 8
