The Swarm and Mammoth played three games last year with the Mammoth winning the season series 2-1. The first two games were in Colorado as both teams won one each. The deciding game was the season final at The Hive which the Mammoth won 16-14 to clinch 4th place in the West leaving Minnesota fifth and last in the division. Former Swarm Sean Pollock scored both game winners for the Mammoth against the Swarm last season and also scored a game winner for the Mammoth against the Swarm on February 18, 2012.

Last Weekend:

The Swarm did not play last weekend but the prior weekend they split a weekend series against the Wings. They won in Philadelphia by a 11-10 score on January 18th and then lost their home opener, 15-8, the following day.

The Mammoth last weekend won 14-13 in overtime in Calgary over the Roughnecks on a John Grant goal. It snapped a four game losing streak.

Notes:

  • The Swarm traded for Dane Stevens during the off week and in this week's Off The Crosse Bar Podcast, it is hinted that he will play this Saturday. If so, a roster move must be done to put him on the active roster and take a current player off. Shayne Jackson or Josh Gillam maybe out of the line up this week if Stevens does play.
  • The Swarm have not had a player score a hat trick this season
  • Cameron Flint will hopefully make his NLL and Swarm debut this weekend in city of his current residence and where he went to school at Denver University.
  • My prediction is that Tyler Carlson will get the start in net this weekend but one wonders how quick the hook may be if he struggles early as he did in both games against the Wings. Nevertheless, I figure that Carlson will rebound nicely.
  • The Swarm average a league low 7.5 goals per game and the Mammoth are second lowest at 10.3.
  • The Mammoth's Adam Jones leads the NLL with 23 goals and 37 points
  • Both teams are in last place in their respective divisions
  • The Mammoth's Bob Snider leads the league with 77 loose balls and 115 face off wins
  • Casey Powell is expected to make his Mammoth debut this weekend.
  • Former Swarm with the Mammoth: Sean Pollock, Dan Ball and Dean Hill.
