The two teams played each other twice last season, each team winning once and on the road on a doubleheader weekend. The Swarm won 13-8 in Edmonton on Febraury 22nd but that game is best known as the the game that Andrew Suitor suffered his season ending knee injury. Two days later in The Hive, the Rush won 14-9 after taking a 6-0 halftime lead and scoring the first nine goals of the game.

This is the only game of the season between the two teams.

Last Weekend:

The Swarm hosted and lost to the Calgary Roughnecks, 15-13. Jordan MacIntosh and Shayne Jackson both had hat tricks to lead the Swarm. The thirteen goals are a season high for the Swarm. With the arrival of Dane Stevens into the lineup the last two games (12 & 13), the Swarm offense has been at its best this season. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the defense which has given up 14 and 15 in the last two games.

The Rush went to Philadelphia and beat the Wings 8-6. Aaron Bold saved 32 of 38 shots for the Rush. The Rush have now went three straight games without scoring ten goals in any of the games. Then again, their opponents have even scored less in all three games.

Notes:

  • It is the fourth annual Minnesota Swarm/Minnesota Rollergirl doubleheader night with the Swarm game starting an hour earlier at 6:00 pm CT, which will be followed by the Rollergirls
  • The Swarm are the only team in the NLL without a win at home.
  • The 1-5 start for the Swarm is the worst start of a Swarm regular season in team history..
  • The Swarm have lost three straight at home with their last home win on April 6, 2013 against Buffalo.
  • The Rush are the lone remaining undefeated team in the NLL and are off to their best start in a season in team history. Only two teams, the 1993 & 1996 Buffalo Bandits had better starts to a season.
  • This is the first game which features the first overall picks of the last two NLL Entry Drafts. Both of the the players are lefthanded forwards:
    • 2013 - Logan Schuss - Minnesota Swarm
    • 2012 - Mark Matthews - Edmonton Rush
  • Expected starting goaltenders - Swarm: Tyler Carlson & Rush: Aaron Bold (leads NLL in GAA and wins).
  • Faceoff battle - Swarm: Jordan MacIntosh & Rush - Jeremy Thompson.
  • Swarm - 9.2 goals per game (9th in NLL) - 11.7 goals given up per game (5th in NLL)
  • Rush - 11.7 goals per game (4th in NLL) - 7.5 goals given up per game (1st in NLL)
  • Former Rush with the Swarm: Callum Crawford and Dane Stevens
  • Former Swarm with the Rush: Zack Greer, Nik Bilic and Alex Turner

Prediction: Minnesota Swarm 10 Edmonton Rush 8
