The two teams met up last twice last year with both teams winning at home. The Swarm season opened their season last year in Buffalo's home opener and lost 13-12. Ryan Benesch had four goals and Shayne Jackson scored three goals in his NLL and Swarm debut. The Swarm led going into the fourth quarter 9-7 but Buffalo rallied with two goals in the quarter by both Chad Culp and Dhane Smith.

The rematch at The Hive on April 6th saw the Swarm score a Swamr single-game record 21 goals as they whipped up on the Bandits by a 21-7 score. Jordan MacIntosh scored a career high five goals, David Earl had two goals and scooped 10 loose balls and Tyler Carlson saved 40 0f 47 shots. The Swarm extended their winning streak to three games with that win.

The last two seasons, the two teams have played each other twice (home and away) each season with the home team winning all the games.

John Tavares has five game winning goals against the Swarm including in the 2007 playoff game. Against the Swarm, Tavares has 46 goals and 70 assists in 20 games.

Last Weekend:

The Swarm had last weekend off but they had a split of the February 22nd and 23rd weekend. On the 22nd, the played in Toronto and lost to the Rock by 14-12 even with a furious fourth quarter comeback led by Jordan MacIntosh. The following day in Philadelphia, the Swarm snapped their five game losing streak and won the season series over the Wings with a 15-14 win. Logan Schuss led the Swarm that day with his breakout NLL and Swarm game with five goals and two assists.

The Bandits have had two weeks off after their 13-7 victory at home over the Philadelphia Wings. Anthony Cosmo saved 45 of 52 shots and Mark Steenhuis had three goals and two assists. That win left the Bandits an half game ahead of the Rochester Knighthawks in first place in the East and with six wins they already equalled their win total from the previous year (6-10).

Notes:

  • Callum Crawford (129) needs two more goals to tie Sean Pollock (131) for second all-time in Swarm regular season goals.
  • Crawford leads the NLL with three shorthanded goals.
  • Jordan MacIntosh (447) needs one loose ball to tie Ryan Cousins (448) for first all-time in Swarm regular season loose balls scooped.
  • Logan Schuss is second in the NLL in rookie scoring with 31 points only trailing the Stealth's Tyler Digby with 35 points. He is tied with Digby with 16 goals to lead all NLL rookies. Schuss is tied for second in the NLL with seven power play goals.
  • Andrew Suitor is tied for third in the NLL with 15 forced turnovers and is tied with former Swarm and current Mammoth player Dan Ball with 39 penalty minutes which leads the NLL.
  • David Earl is eligible to come off the injured reserve-first level list but that determination has not yet been made.
  • Starting Goaltenders - Swarm: ?????? & Bandits - Anthony Cosmo (2nd in Wins, 3rd in GAA & 3rd in Saves in the NLL)
  • Zach Higgins started both games two weekends ago but was relieved by Tyler Carlson in each game. Higgins did come back and finish the game in Philadelphia.
  • The Swarm have given up at least fourteen goals per game for each of the last six games. The starting goaltender for the Swarm has only played the entire game three times in the first nine games.
  • Faceoffs - Swarm: Jordan MacIntosh (4th in LB in the NLL) & Bandits - Jay Thorimbert (5th in LB & 3rd in FO wins in the NLL)
  • Swarm - 10.1 goals per game (9th in NLL) - 12.4 goals given up per game (5th in NLL)
  • Bandits - 11.9 goals per game (3rd in NLL) - 10.4 goals given up per game (3rd in NLL)
  • Power Play - Swarm 46.8% (4th in NLL) & Bandits 40.0% (7th in NLL)
  • Penalty Kill - Swarm 58.1% (3rd in NLL) & Bandits 61.4% (2nd in NLL)
  • Penalty Minutes Per Game - Swarm 18.9 (3rd in NLL) & Bandits 17.0 (6th in NLL)
  • Both teams have scored the least amongst of goals in the first quarter - Swarm (17) & Bandits (15). So slow starts maybe expected by both teams.
  • The Swarm have lost against every team in the NLL once this season except for the Bandits who they have not yet played.
  • John Tavares is having a strong season after an injury riddled 2013 season. This is his 23rd season of NLL action which all have been in Bandit orange and black. He is an original member of the Bandits. He is the all-time NLL leader in goals, assists and points.
  • Former Swarm with the Bandits:
    • Ryan Benesch - leads the Bandits in scoring
    • Chad Culp - first multiple point game in the last game against the Wings with two assists.
    • Rory Smith - steady defense in the middle and has not been in a fight all season.
    • Jay Thorimbert - top five in loose balls and face off wins in the NLL
    • Andrew Watt - On injured reserve
    • Aaron Wilson - Missed 6 of the first 7 games due to injury but came back in the last game against the Wings with two goals
