This is the fourth and final game in the season series between the two teams. The first three games in the series
were all won by the road team:
- 01/24/15 - Swarm 19-13 over New England in NE
- 03/14/15 - Black Wolves 10-9 over Minnesota in MN
- 03/29/15 - Swarm 13-9 over New England in NE
The two teams played against each other last Sunday with a solid 13-9 win. Miles Thompson & Jordan MacIntosh
each had hat tricks and Zach Higgins stopped 50 of 59 shots. If the Swarm win, they win possibly a very important tiebreaker if they
continue to win and have Buffalo and Rochester pratically lose out the rest of the way.
Notes:
- Former Swarm with the Black Wolves: Andrew Suitor, Evan Kirk and Kevin Buchanan
- Former Black Wolves with the Swarm: Joel White
- Both teams have underwent some staggering changes since last Sunday's game:
- The Swarm sent their captain for the last three years, Andrew Suitor, to the Black Wolves for their
captain Joel White on Monday. The trade has proved quite unpopular amongst Swarm fans on social media who feel that
team management has once again traded a talented fan favorite to cut costs or just for spite.
Even though experts
with an objective eye say both Suitor and White are about the same talent-wise, the moving of the heart and soul of the
franchise at such a time seems to be irresponsible. Suitor will no doubt bring the same talent and intensity as a member
of the enemy on Friday night as he has since he joined the Swarm for the 2011 season.
White has become better each and every NLL season and was entrusted to the Black Wolves captaincy in the
franchise's first year. He is first in the NLL in loose balls scooped per game for non-face off players and can score
on transition. White won't make fans forget Suitor but he should be able to leave a very positive impression on the fans
with his play on the floor.
- Another big deal came on Tuesday for the Swarm as they dealt lefty Logan Schuss to Vancouver for lefty Johnny Powless. After
a lot of hype in his first year in 2015 in Vancouver in which he struggled to score goals, Powless has a new lease on his 2015 season as
he gets to orchestrate the offense with Shayne Jackson, Dean Hill and Shane MacDonald.
- The Swarm have only scored 8.25 goals per game in their four home games this season.
- Zach Higgins has saved 41, 41 & 50 shots in his three games against the Black Wolves this season.
- The Black Wolves exchanged top righty forwards as they sent their leading scorer Kevin Crowley to Toronto for Garrett Billings.
Billings has not played this year due to a knee injury suffered at the end of last season. He has been cleared to play for a month but
a contract dispute with the Rock left him on the sidelines until this weekend when Rochester offered him a contract. The Rock matched but neither
party would be together again so the trade was made. Billings has 3 straight years of 100 points, the only player to do so in NLL history but
how fast can he get back on track in what should be his first game in 2015 on Friday night.
Prediction: Minnesota Swarm 10 New England Black Wolves 9
Like I said, the anger and fury shown by Swarm fans toward the team management has been immense and intense with numerous
fans saying that renewing season tickets for next year will not occur. I do wonder how much anger and displeasure will be displayed by the fans
at the game. It is always different how one reacts live at an event then behind a keyboard, that I know myself for sure. I think
the team will rally amongst themselves even more then they probably already have and come out with a supreme effort in a low scoring tussle.
