Tonight's game will be the second of three games this season between the two teams. The first game was on February 6th at Ho-Chunk Nation Field at The Hive and Logan Schuss' goal tied at six to send it to overtime where Callum Crawford got the dramatic game winner as the Swarm won 7-6. Zach Higgins had 34 saves on 40 shots. A win tonight will give the Swarm the tiebreaker between the two teams. Both teams finish against each other in Minnesota on May 2nd.

Last Night:

The Minnesota Swarm returned home after a three game road trip with two new players, Joel White and Johnny Powless, each scoring a goal to lead the Swarm to a convincing 12-8 over the New England Black Wolves. Callum Crawford had three goals and four assists and Zach Higgins saved 36 of 44 shots.

The Rochester Knighthawks traveled to Toronto to play the Rock in a matchup of the top two teams in the East and they came away with 11-7 victory. Dan Dawson led them with three goals and two assists and Matt Vinc saved 49 of 56 shots.

Notes:

  • Johnny Powless spent his first three years in Rochester (2012 - 2014) winning three Champions Cup. He returns in different colors on Saturday night for the first time. Powless scored two game winning goals in 2014 for the Knighthawks against the Swarm.
  • This is the last 2015 regular season road game for the Swarm.
  • Zach Higgins has started eleven straight games in net for the Swarm which is the longest streak since Nick Patterson started 23 straight (11 to finish 2010 & 12 to start 2011).
  • Former Knighthawks with the Swarm: Johnny Powless, Joel White and Dean Hill
  • Former Swarm with the Knighthawks: Jon Sullivan, Craig Point, Scott Self, Scott Campbell and Angus Goodleaf
  • The last home game for the Knighthawks was on March 28th and they lost in embarrassing fashion, 16-3, to the Edmonton Rush. One figures, the Knighthawks will come out today to give their fans a show more championship-like.

Prediction: Minnesota Swarm 11 Rochester Knighthawks 10

Can the Minnesota Swarm continue to win to make the playoffs? They have no choice so why not as they travel to Rochester today to take on the three-time defending Champions Cup, the Rochester Knighthawks. The Swarm defense has been the strongest it has been this year while the Knighthawk offense has struggled of late. The Swarm defense will need to continue that as the Knighthawk defense has given up the second least goals per game in the NLL. Look for Johnny Powless to have his Swarm breakthrough game with a hat trick to lead the Swarm to victory and extend the Swarm's winning streak to three.
