06/29/05 - Predicted Expansion List
See what I think the Swarm will do as they prepare their protected list for the upcoming expansion draft for Edmonton and Portland.
06/23/05 - Swarm Acquire Beirnes and Gibson from Sting
The Minnesota Swarm sent back the two draft picks they got in the Craig Conn deal in March to the Arizona Sting. In return, the Swarm
get forward Kasey Beirnes and defenseman Darryl Gibson.
Beirnes only played one game last season for Arizona before suffering a season ending knee injury. Leading up to that, Beirnes was enjoying a very solid NLL career which
saw him 91 goals and 77 assists in five seasons. He will, if healthy, will add some much needed scoring on the right side of the offense. Gibson has played six NLL seasons and was in both San Jose and Arizona last season. He scored the game winner in
the 2002 Champions Cup for the Toronto Rock. He also won the 2003 Cup in Toronto, also.
06/15/05 - NLL Expands Playoffs to Eight Teams
Next year, the NLL will expand the playoffs from six to eight teams. The Swarm still wouldn't have made the playoffs if eight was the rule in 2005 but with a year under their
belts, the Swarmies should definitely contend for a playoff spot in 2006.
06/03/05 - Back to Eleven Teams in the NLL
The NLL announced that the Anaheim Storm are shutting down operations and their players will be dispersed at a later date to the various teams. It is expected that the
league will hold the expansion draft for Edmonton and Portland first then a dispersal draft of Anaheim's players. Top players on Anaheim include Casey Powell,
Scott Stewart, Ryan Powell and Rory Glaves.
