December 2005 Updates

November 2005 | Current Month | Other Months | January 2006

  • 12/15/05 - 23-Man 2006 Minnesota Swarm Roster

Not much turnover. Only 6 new players which are improvements over what we lost, which means 75% player retention. There are teams in the league more respected like the Sting and Mammoth who nearly turned over half their teams. This is the team this year. I don't see much if anymore tinkering of the roster during the season unless we get nailed with injuries. With a year under the belt, the Swarm are playoff ready.

  • 12/11/05 - Pre-Season Review: Swarm 9 Mammoth10

Well, it looks like our Swarm took a tough 10-9 OT loss on Saturday Dec 10 against the Mammoth in the closed scrimmage. Ryan Ward scored 3 goals and our power play worked well. Coach (Adam) Mueller said the team definitely played well enough to win but noted three items that caused the loss:

Some tough officiating calls against the Swarm.

An own goal in which the Mammoth knocked the ball out of Swarm's stick in the crease.

An illegal subsitution by the Mammoth which gave them a man advantage which led directly to a goal.

In conclusion, according to Mueller, the Swarm were the better team and he was pleased with their performance. I did post that the Swarm had a scrimmage later in the month against the Rush from an Edmonton Sun article, but Mueller said it is not happening. Mueller did say they will be practicing in Ontario next weekend and be back in the Twin Cities in the first weekend in January.
