October 2007 Updates

September 2007 | Current Month | Other Months | November 2007

  • 10/25/07 - The 2008 NLL Season is Back On ... But Different

The NLL owners and the PLPA finally got to burning the midnight oil, which they should have done months ago, and have come up with a new seven-year CBA with an opt out after five years. There will be a new schedule released in the upcoming days and teams will soon be back to signing players for the upcoming season.

  • 10/16/07 - The 2008 NLL Season is Cancelled

The NLL has announced that they have cancelled the 2008 NLL season and locked out the players. This is because the NLL and the PLPA have failed to agree to a new CBA as they last proposal from the owners was rejected by the PLPA. The dates that the teams reserved for games will eventually be released back to the arenas so if there is a season still, the schedule may be revised. Of immedicate concern is how this will affect the Swarm? Losing an entire NLL season may be enough to cripple the league permanently and even if the league were to survive a cancelled season, it is doubtful that the Swarm could. A year out of mind and an ownership who may not want to put up with CBA issues may be enough to end the Swarm. We can only hope the sides can come up with agreement quickly and save the season.
