a 10-9 lead. Conn gave the East their first lead at 5-4 in the second quarter on a shorthanded goal.
- 02/20/05 - Review: Swarm 17 Wings 18
The Minnesota Swarm (2-6) suffered their second one-goal loss of the weekend as the Philadelphia Wings
(3-5) held on to an 18-17 victory at the X. The Swarm nearly came back from a 18-13 deficit with 7:25
left in the game, but could not tie it up after Ryan Ward cut the gap to one
with 49 seconds left. The Swarm are winless in all four home games this season and have lost four straight.
- 02/18/05 - Review: Swarm 16 Sting 17 OT
In a furious back and forth night in Glendale, Jonas Derks finished the Swarm off 11:34 into overtime
to lead the Arizona (4-4) to 17-16 victory over Minnesota (2-5). This was the Swarm's first
ever game to go overtime. Kelly Hall scored a career high four goals
to lead the Swarm. Ryan Ward and Kerry Susheski
each had three goals.
- 02/16/05 - Bateman Named NLL Rookie of the Week
Ryder Bateman was named NLL Rookie of the Week Ending February 13th.
Bateman had his breakthrough NLL game with four goals and an assist. In his previous four games, Bateman
only had three goals and five assists so hopefully we so more of these four goal games from Bateman.
- 02/15/05 - Conn and Cousins Selected to 2005 All-Star Game
The National Lacrosse League has selected the All-Star participants for the 2005 All-Star Game in Calgary
on Saturday, February 26th at 1:00 pm Central.
Two Minnesota Swarm players were chosen to represent the team for the East Division All-Stars:
- Craig Conn is the Swarm's leading scorer with ten goals and six assists in
three games this season. The second year player will be making his first All-Star apppearance.
- Captain Ryan Cousins will be making his first All-Star appearance as well.
The four-year veteran defenseman has four goals and an assist to go with 22 loose balls.
The Swarm and the Anaheim Sting are the least reprensented team in the
All-Star Game with only two players.
- 02/11/05 - Review: Swarm 9 Rock 15
The Minnesota Swarm (2-4) had their first repeat opponent as they played the Toronto Rock (3-2) for a second time this season.
This time they were at the X but like last time they fell to the Rock by a score of 15-9. The Rock finish the season
series with a two game sweep. Ryder Bateman had his breakout game with four goals and
an assist to lead the Swarm. Ryan Ward made his Swarm debut and assisted on one goal. The Swarm
are now 0-3 at home but they gave them quite a show with numerous fights and other illegal activties to finish the game.
- 02/08/05 - Swarm Offense
- 02/08/05 - Swarm Receive Ward for Nadelen
The Minnesota Swarm acquired forward Ryan Ward along with a fourth
round pick in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft from the Philadelphia Wings for
Shawn Nadelen and the Swarm's first round pick in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft.
Ward has played five games so far this season with the Wings and has five goals and two assists. Last
year, Ward was a rookie for the Wings and had 18 goals and 19 assists. Ward was the third pick in the 2003
NLL Entry Draft and is a highly regarded young righty shooter.
Nadelen had played all five games for the Swarm and had two goals and two assists. Nadelen returns to
the Wings where he played in 2004.
- 02/02/05 - The Swarm Make Two Moves
The Minnesota Swarm traded back up goaltender John McLellan to the
Colorado Mammoth for the Mammoth's second rounder in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. McLellan relieved
Nick Patterson in the home opener where he saved 31 of 39 shots to finish
the game. Even with Patterson's struggles in the home opener, the Swarm feel he has more upside than McLellan
not to mention, the team would rather just have two goaltenders than three.
To replace McLellan on the roster, the Swarm signed Andrew Martin to an
one-year contract. The defenseman played for the Philadelphia Wings under Swarm General Manager
Marty O'Neill for the past three seasons but was released by the
Wings prior to the season.
