November 2014 Updates

October 2014 | Current Month | Other Months | December 2014

  • 11/30/14 - 2014 Minnesota Swarm Training Camp - Defense

The defensive corps for the Minnesota Swarm will be looking to tighten the ship after giving up just over 12 goals per game last season. A couple new names and the opportunity for younger players to ascend to more responsibility will be seen during training camp starting on December 5th in Oakville, Ontario.

  • 11/24/14 - In Lacrosse We Trust - Ethan O'Connor Ready for New Opportunity with Swarm

  • 11/24/14 - LaxDirt - The Minnesota Swarm Pre Season Breakdown

  • 11/21/14 - Cotter Will Wear #44

The Minnesota Swarm assigned #44 to free agent signee Nick Cotter. Cotter comes to the Swarm after taking the year off due to injury. Cotter has played for the Boston Blazers and most recently the Buffalo Bandits in 2013.

  • 11/20/14 - Native American Heritage Night for 2015

In conjunction with the sponsorship agreement between the Minnesota Swarm and Ho-Chunk Nation, the team announced that this year's Native American Heritage Night will be on February 6th at Ho-Chunk Nation Field at The Hive against the Rochester Knighthawks.

The Swarm tweeted two weeks ago that the various theme nights for the 2015 season would be announced last week but Native American Heritage Night is the first announcement so stay tuned for more theme night announcements coming soon.

  • 11/20/14 - The Minnesota Swarm Teams Up the Ho-Chunk Nation for Three Years

The Minnesota Swarm announced they have entered into a three year deal with the Ho-Chunk Nation as the team's presenting sponsor beginning in 2015 through the 2017 season. With that, the floor will be known as Ho-Chunk Nation Field at Xcel Energy Center. I will call it the Ho-Chunk Nation Field at The Hive because the Swarm play at The Hive not at Xcel like the hockey team. The Swarm jerseys will also have the Ho-Chunk Nation logo on them.

  • 11/11/14 - Gillam Placed on PUP List

As expected, the Minnesota Swarm placed Josh Gillam on the physically unable to perform list prior to training camp. The reasoning is the acl injury that Gillam suffered while playing for the Peterborough Lakers in the MSL Finals in August. It is expected that Gillam will miss the entire 2015 season as he rehabs his knee in hopes to come back for 2016. That leaves the Swarm with 32 players actively signed for the upcoming training camp that begins December 5th in Oakville, Ontario.

  • 11/11/14 - Ryan Ward Retires

One of the greatest players in Minnesota Swarm history, Ryan Ward announced his retirement from the NLL today. Ward played eleven NLL seasons with the Philadelphia Wings to start and finish his career with the Minnesota Swarm and Edmonton Rush in between. He was going to be entering the second year of his two-year contract with the New England Black Wolves who moved from Philadelphia this summer.

  • 11/10/14 - IL Indoor - ILIndoor Top 50: Callum Crawford, No. 27

  • 11/08/14 - In Lacrosse We Trust - NLL Offseason Recap: Minnesota Swarm

  • 11/08/14 - Mr. Luxurious Back After Year Off

The best nickname on the Swarm will return for the 2015 season as Mitch Belisle aka Mr. Luxurious signs for one season along with rookie defenseman Pat Laconi.

  • 11/07/14 - IL Indoor - ILIndoor Top 50: Andrew Suitor, No. 28

  • 11/04/14 - Minnesota Swarm Training Camp Schedule for 2015 Season

The Minnesota Swarm, I mean the NLL since the Swarm hasn't yet, announced their training camp schedule leading into the 2015 regular season. Camp opens up on December 5th at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario. The opening day of camp for the Swarm is the last opening for any NLL team by a week.

  • 11/01/14 - In Lacrosse We Trust - Nick Cotter is Back in the NLL with Minnesota

It looks like Nick Cotter is getting ready for the upcoming Swarm season and will be able to work around his coaching job at St. Leo.

The Swarm have not assigned Cotter a number yet but my guess is #9 which he wore playing for the Brooklin Redmen from 2011-12. His favorite number is 37 which he has worn throughout college and his NLL stops but that is taken already by Ethan O'Connor
