The Swarm did quite well against the Mammoth last year as they swept the season series 3-0. Callum Crawford got the game winner at The Hive
in the regular season finale to clinch second place in the West and a home playoff game. Crawford has two game winning goals for the Swarm
against the Mammoth. The games in Colorado last year were both close with the Swarm winning 12-10 and 11-10 on an overtime goal by Ryan Benesch. The
Swarm have won five straight against the Mammoth after losing their first five in team history against them. The Swarm have not lost to the
Mammoth since January 22, 2010.

- This is the season opener for both teams. This is the first time these two teams have faced each other in a season opener
- Nick Paterson is expected to start in goal for the Swarm. Entering his eighth season with Swarm, that makes Patterson the player to
play the longest for the Swarm in team history. He is the only player to remain from the original 2005 season.
- Patterson is 5-3 with a 10.33 GAA and a .773 Save % against the Mammoth with
the Swarm. Patterson has won each of the five games in the Swarm's current five
game winning streak against the Mammoth.
- No decision has been announced as to which of the two rookie goaltendters will dress and back up Patterson: Evan Kirk or Tyler Carlson. The
second goaltender spot may be a roteation for the first few games of the year.
- The Swarm have twelve new players on their roster to begin the year from the end of the 2011
season.
- Four 2011 Entry Draft Picks made the team in Jordan MacIntosh, Evan Kirk, Corbyn Tao & Jay Card.
- Four rookie free agents made the team in Nik Bilic, Joel Henry, Dan Ball & Tyler Carlson.
- The Swarm have seven forwards on the roster led by Ryan Benesch and Callum Crawford. Expect all seven to dress and play.

in Portland.
- The Swarm are 4-3 in road openers including last year's 16-8 win in Washington over the Stealth.
- The Swarm have not been together as a team since the pre-season game in Six Nations versus Toronto on December 18th. The nine/ten players living in
the Twin Cities this season started training together this week. The Mammoth practiced this past weekend in Devner in preparation for this weekend's
game.
- The Mammoth have turned their roster over even more than the Swarm after a 5-11 season which saw them lose to the Calgary Roughnecks in the
first round of the playoffs. They have fifteen new players.
- The Swarm traded Sean Pollock, Smith and Jon Sullivan
to the Mammoth for the third pick in the Boston Blazers Dispersal Draft. The Swarm picked goaltender Anthony Cosmo,
who has not yet reported to the team due to preferring to play for an East Division team near his home in Ontario.

- Sullivan was just named an assistant captain for the Mammoth this past Monday.
