Your and mine faavorite local professionnal indooor lacrosse team, the Minnesota Swarm, are not enjoying eastern hospitality. Last week, the Swarm started a two-game eastern swing with a loss in Buffalo by the score of 15-12. Genereally outhustled at the times it counted throughout the game, the Swarm saw their three-game winning streak set aside. They have now lost nine straight games against Eter Division teams dating back to 2009. This week the Swarm's eastern swing continues against an East Division foe, the Rochester Knighthawkks, tonight at 6:35 pm Central. Resd More...

    Callum Crawford

    Andrew Watt

The NLL announced the All-Star Reseves for the NLL All-Star Game on February 27 at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.

The Swarm had two players selected as reserves for the West Division.

Callum Crawford will be participating in his first All-Star Game. In his second season with the Swarm, Crawford has eight goals and thirteen assists in five games this year. Last year, he set Swarm single season records for assists and points.

Andrew Watt will be participating in his first All-Star Game. In his third season with the Swarm after being taken eighth overall in the 2008 NLL Entry Draft, Watt has had a very successful start to the yaar with six goals and two assists as the leading transition player for the Swarm. He is tied for third in loose bals with the Swarm with 29 amd has scored a hat trick in the home opener.

Crawford and Watt will join Nick Patterson and Ryan Benesch who were selected as All-Star starters earlier this week.

The game is on Sunday, February 27th at 1:00 pm Central and will be live on Versus.

  • 02/09/11 -Shewchuk Acquired from Mammoth for Campeau

    Jamie Shewchuk

    Tim Campeau

The Minnesota Swarm traded Tim Campeau and a second round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft to the Colorado Mammoth for lefthanded forward Jamie Shewchuk and a fourth round pick in the 2012 Entry Draft.

Campeau, 26, had one goal and six assists in four games this year for the Swarm. Acquired in the Portland LumberJax dispersal draft in July 2009. Last year with the Swarm, Campeau had 11 goals and 37 assists. He also had two game winning goals including one in the last game the Swarm played the Mammoth on February 27, 2010.

Shewchuk, 25, is a lefty forward who is in his fifth year in the league. Drafted by the Mammoth with the 25th pick in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft, Shewchuk was named to the 2007 NLL All-Rookie Team along with Ryan Benesch. In 67 regular season games, Shewchuk has 109 goals and 142 assists and led the Mammoth in scoring in 2010. This year, Shewchuk has five goals and ten assists in five games with the Mammoth. He also has an impressive playoff line in three games, Shewchuk has seven goals and nine assists. He scored six game winners in Colorado and had four points and four assists in a game against Minnesota on March 22, 2009. Shewchuk is from Edmonton, Alberta and lives in Denver at this time.

With Zack Greer missing last week's game in Buffalo, possibly due to an injury he suffered against Washington on January 29, 2011, the near future availablity of Greer is in question. So, it looks like Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill decided to add some scoring to the left side to help out Benesch and Shewchuk looks like he may be a good fit and at 25, he is what Marty likes, young.

Your and mine favorite local professional indoor lacrosse team, the Minnesota Swarm, has been remedying concerns that have impeded their progress towards Champions Cup glory the last couple of years. They have actually put together consistent winning efforts which now see them with a three game winning streak, longest since 2008. They have started to win at home with two straight wins there. They are beating teams in division and now stand 3-0 in division play. They are winning those one goal games this year going 2-1 including the overtime win against Washington last week at The Hive courtesy of Ryan Benesch. Read More...
