You can read more about the make up of this year's roster st the following link.
Below is the updated depth chart as the roster is set going into the season which opens on January 14th in Colorado against the Mammoth. Home
opener is on January 28th against the Buffalo Bandits at The Hive.
12/21/11 - With the cutdown to the 23-man Active Roster due by noon Eatern on Decmeber 22nd, the Swarm released Shayne Bennett leaving just four cuts to be made. Brendon Doran,
Nik Bilic, Tyler Carlson, Joel Henry and
Dan Ball were signed to three-year contracts today which may indicate that all five have made the team. My projection for the final
four cuts as of now are Brian Karalunas, Todd Baxter, Pat Smith and Joe Wasson with the first three being assigned to the practice roster.
From reports, the game got 'chippy" towards the end. Jamie Shewchuk with at least two goals. Rosters in the
NLL must be trimmed to 23 by December 22nd and the Swarm have some big decisions to make.
The Swarm wrap up the weekend with their last preseason game prior to the December 22nd roster deadline as they play
the defending NLL Champions, the Toronto Rock, at Six Nations. All positions will be up for grabs according to the coaches
and this game is the last chance for players like Nik Bilic and Joel Henry to
make a lasting impression.
The Swarm open their pre-season schedule in Rochester on Saturday, December 17 in Rochester against the Knighthawks at 6:00 pm
central. With numerous new personnel trying to make the team like Jordan MacIntosh and
Mitch Belisle, Saturday will be the first time that the team will be able to evaluate against an opponent.
12/12/11 - Updated Depth Chart afetr the shocking release of Noah Talbot.
12/12/11- The Swarm released Noah Talbot today in a very shocking and in my opinion misguided decision. Noah
has been in the NLL since 2005 and with the Swarm since 2006. He has been the Swarm's leading lefthanded defenseman in all those years. He had
played in 75 consecutive games (regular season and playoffs) for the Swarm dating back to March 18, 2007. Look for Talbot to be scooped up by
one of the Swarm's West Division rivals by the end of the week. The release of Talbot leaves 28 players on the roster.
12/07/11 - According to Stephen Stamp at
IL Indoor.com,
Drew Dickie, John McClure, Kiel Donahue,
Michael Brascia and Aaron Grayson were released. There is no confirmation
via the Swarm or NLL.com yet. Dickie and McClure were on
the Swarm's practice roster for all of the 2011 season and would be the big surprises amongst those cuts especially after McClure's summmer
in Brampton.
All that remains from the open tryout on November 24th are Brendon Doran,
Dan Ball, and Joe Wasson with only Doran confirmed as signed by NLL.com.
29 players remain on the team wtih two preseason games on Decemeber 17 in Rochester and December 18 in Six Nations versus Toronto remianing
before the December 22nd rsoter deadline where the final roster is set at 23. No training camp sessions are scheduled before that time.
