Swarm Order of Merit

November 8, 2005

With a general idea of who will be playing at the X this year here is my ordering of the Swarm based on importance and performance.

It goes without saying, but I am saying it, I may be completely wrong on this assessment since some would say I am not a great lacrosse mind.

Key
Rank. Jersey Number-Position-Shooting Hand-Player
Note

1. 1 - G - L - Matt Disher
Big Time Goalie who is ready to emerge as one of the NLL elite goalies like Dallas Eliuk and Bob Watson.

2. 50 - D - R - Ryan Cousins
Captain and anchor of the defense.

3. 44 - F - R - Ryan Ward
Most dynamic scorer for the Swarm

4. 40 - F - L - Jamie Taylor
Fantastic assist man

5. 10 - F - L - Chad Culp
Confidence grew as he was given the chance to show what he can do at the NLL level. Also maybe funniest guy on team.

6. 21 - D - L - Neil Doddridge
All time leader in penalty minutes. Great veteran leadership. Ooops, he retired. Oh well, lets move on.

6. ? - D - L - Darryl Gibson
Adds much more toughness to defense.

7. 77 - D - L - Riley Kemp
Best transition player on the team.

8. 17 - F - R - Sean Pollock
Cuts to the goal very well to take the tough shot.

9. 24 - D - L - Brock Boyle
Doesn't take crap from anyone and well he is Brock Boyle, very charismatic and personable.

10. 14 - F - R - Ryder Bateman
Unlimited ability to move up on this list

11. ? - D - L - Noah Talbot
More experience added to defense along with Gibson. Gibson and Talbot, I believe is an upgrade defensively over Andrew Martin and Ray Guze.

12. ? - F - R - Kasey Beirnes
Could move up on list if healthy from last year early season ending injury. If ready, if he does what he did with the Sting in 2004, the Swarm will be looking good.

13. 12 - D - R - Eric Pacey
Steady and reliable. That sounds weird but well it is true.

14. 55 - D - R - Michael Kilby
First to fight ask Patrick Merrill and Bryan Barrett; however, he does more than just fight which is why played 14 games last year.

15. 11 - F - R - Kelly Hall
Swarm's all time leading scorer who can explode at any time on offense.

16. 93 - G - R - Nick Patterson
Best young goaltender in the league now and could very well be the best in the future but will he be healthy early in the season.

17. ? - F - R - Nolan Heavenor
Gained experience in Victoria with other Swarm players this past summer. Good on the transition and could be the main faceoff guy for the team. I may have him too low on this list but only because this is his first year in the NLL.

18. - 47 - D - R - Travis Hill
Seems to be a player who can adjust to any position. Very well-spoken individual. If Heavenor is not facing off, I think it will be Travis.

19. - 23 - D - R - Jon Sullivan
Both he and Hill share the same exact birthdate, June 30, 1982. Continuing on, will Jon get the time to show off his skills?

20. - 37 - F - L - Tony Henderson
Experienced offensive player, even better if he is better shape. Hope he does well in order to stick it to those Wings fans.

21. - 66 - F - R - D'Arcy Berthiaume
Injury during the summer could limit him this season but he is a scorer and a well respected and knowledgeable leader.

22. - ? - F - L - Rory McDade
I don't know much about him and maybe selling him short. This is his first year in the league.

23 - ? - F - L - Ryan Painter
Maybe the biggest unkown on the Swarm. Will he be the player like he was with Ottawa in his rookie year in 2002 when he got 66 points or will he be unable to make up for the injuries he has had and the lack of playing competiively since then. May turn out to be the best story on this team at year end.

24. 43 - G - L - Mike Attwood
Third goalie, young and up and coming. If Patterson isn't available, he will be of great importance to the team.

25. ? - D - ? - Kyle Ross
Same as Sullivan but like McDade, don't know much about him.

Now only 1 month and 28 days to go before the Wings get the beat down they so richly deserve.
