Never a dull moment was seen at Madison Square Garden in front of 7,026 Titan faithfuls as the
Minnesota Swarm’s Sean Pollock finishes off the New York Titans with 35 seconds to go to give the
Swarm a 15-14 victory. The Swarm came back from 11-10 to start the fourth as five different Swarm,
including Pollock, notched a goal to see the Swarm prevail win.
Pollock led the Swarm (3-3) with three goals and six assists. Ryan Ward had a huge night
scoring two goals and adding seven assists. Mike Hominuck, playing his first game for the Swarm,
after being acquired last week in a trade from Portland, scored five goals and one assist.
The game started slowly but by the last half of the first quarter, business picked up for
both teams. The Swarm got behind 2-1 but scored three straight, including Hominuck’s first
goal as a Swarm, to take a 4-2 lead. The Titans Ryan Boyle narrowed the lead to 4-3 to end the first.
The second quarter saw the Swarm start fast as the expansion Titans (1-6) encountered numerous
penalty issues. Hominuck scored the first two goals of the quarter for the Swarm and Pollock and
Dean Hill each added one to get the Swarm a 8-4 lead. The Titans never gave up and came back
strong led by Casey Powell who scored a goal and assisted on two others in a three goal rally
which saw the Titans close the Swarm lead to 8-7 at the half.
The Swarm jumped out to a 10-8 lead to begin the third but Titans stormed right back to take
their first lead of the game 11-10 on a fantastic play by Gewas Schindler as he faked out the
Swarm defense and put the ball in all alone on Swarm goaltender Nick Patterson.
The lead for the Titans held up through the end of the third quarter but in the fourth, the
Swarm regained it on goals by Kasey Beirnes and Ward. After a Ryan Boyle tied it at twelve, the
Swarm popped in goals from Hominuck and Chad Culp, who scored his first goal since the season
opener on January 13th against Chicago. That lead didn’t last as Powell, who is a magician
with the ball, scored a beauty from behind his back and then passed it behind his back to
Boyle to tie at 14. That left it to Pollock who had a second straight fantastic game to
score the game winner on a pass from Ward. Pollock got the pass in front of the crease and
scored as he dived through it past Titan goaltender Matt Vinc.
Casey Powell led the Titans with two goals and six assists while his partner in crime, Ryan
Boyle scored five goals and assisted on two others.
Nick Patterson stood up well at the right times saving 35 of 49 shots while the Titans
Vinc saved 40 of 55. Mark Miyashita dominated the face off circle on his 26th Birthday winning
21 of 32 draws. The Swarm are third in the league on face-offs winning 55.9% of the time
compared to last year when they finished ninth with a win percentage of 41.7%. The Swarm
scored on six of nine power plays. The Swarm gave up three power plays goals on three chances
to the Titans in first half but shut them out all five times in the second. The Swarm even won
a rare loose ball war with seventy compared the Titans fifty-nine.
Both these teams battle again tomorrow night at the Xcel Energy Center at 7:00 pm. Ryan Sharp,
who the Swarm also acquired in a separate trade from Portland last week, is expected to make
his Swarm debut in front of a buzzing hive of Swarmiacs.

If the Swarm sweep the Titans tomorrow night and Chicago loses to Toronto
tomorrow afternoon, the Swarm will be in third place heading to Chicago next Saturday.
