Notes

  • Chad Culp scores the game winner with 0.8 seconds left for the Swarm. The Sting's Head Coach Derek Keenan challenged Culp's stick saying it was illegal. Ryan Cousins immediately arugued the Swarm's case with the referees. The refs grabbed Brock Boyle's stick by mistake initially, however, Boyle was not on the floor at the time of the goal. The refs eventually talked with Culp, took his stick and measured it finding it legal and assessed the Sting a penalty and the goal stood for a Swarm victory. It is not known if Keenan actually called for Boyle's stick to be checked or Culp's. Both players are similar in stature and with the gold jersey numbers on white background, it is not easy at times to notice the difference between (19-Culp) and (10-Boyle). One may even say with the delay because the refs had Boyle's stick, that Culp may have "fixed" his stick just in case but I can't say that for certain and I am sure that you won't hear that from the Swarm.
  • The Swarm finish 4-4 at home, their best home record for a season
  • The Swarm finish 9-7 this season, which is a single season best in team history. They have improved each of their first three years with 5 wins in 2005, 8 in 2006 and 9 this season.
  • The Swarm finished third in the East, the highest in team history. They have improved each year in that area also as they were 5th in 2005, 4th in 2006 and now 3rd this season.
  • The 14,144 in attendance was an all-time Swarm high for one game at The Hive
  • Dean Hill finishes the season with the most goals for a Swarm player in a season with 32
  • Ryan Ward finishes the season with the most points (75) and most assists (52) for a Swarm player in a season
  • The nine goals for the Swarm in the second quarter are the most in team history.
  • Matt Disher made his just his sixth start of the season and first since March 23rd. He saved 33 of 48 shots. He has only went the distance twice this season, tonight and against New York on February 18th.
  • Mike Hominuck is out with a sprained ankle.
  • The playoff game against the Bandits will be on Sunday, April 22 at 1:00 pm Central at Buffalo.
  • The Swarm could still host the East Finals if they and the Toronto Rock win next week in their playoff games. Also, if the Swarm make the Champions Cup, the Swarm would host if they play either Arizona or San Jose.
  • Craig Conn made his return to The Hive with 4g and 2a. Conn was with the Swarm in 2005, made the All-Star game and had 14g 17a before traded at the 2005 trade deadline to the Sting.
